The Night Before Christmas

Mark W. Danielson

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the sky,
Lots of planes were flying, but none too close by.
When all of a sudden, a strange sight appeared,
A jolly old fellow, with a long white beard

Pulled by eight flying reindeer, his sleigh came alongside.
He waved his gloved hand as he wished us good night.
With the snap of his reins, he zoomed ahead,
to deliver his presents while the children were in bed.

My co-pilot and I were startled at first,
On the night before Christmas, a mid-air would be worse.
But magic appears wherever there’s love,
And this always comes from our Lord above

So while I’m spending this Christmas in Dubai,
I hope that peace and love will always survive.
No matter where in the world our loved ones are,
Our thoughts are with them as we gaze at the stars.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Merry Christmas, Mark!

Loved the plane photo. If you were in the U.S. you'd have the skies to yourself -- unless the sun comes out and the snow stops falling and the ice starts melting ... well, you probably keep up with the weather at home, so you know what a booger it's been. (-:

What do they do in Dubai on Christmas?

I'm pleased to report that Santa had no problems with his deliveries in the Mideast. Of course, there aren't as many packages to deliver here, but still, his spirit is felt everywhere. My hotel has a Christmas tree, my room had a small stocking. It was a very nice touch.

The great thing about this amazing city is its religious tolerance. Everything is accepted in Dubai. I hope it always remains that way. Merry Chrismas.

Okay, I admit it. I can't spell -- particularly after flying all night. It should be CHRISTMAS:)

Loved the poem and the photo, Mark. If you can't be home for Christmas, Dubai's not a bad place to be. :)

Merry Christmas, everyone!
