They're lobster pots. Similar to those used off the Oregon coast. Architecture isn't quite the right word--they built strong and low against winter storms coming in off the Atlantic. Much of the village was damaged by flash floods from the opposite direction a few years ago.
Lovely photography, Caola, and quaint architecture. Are those fishing baskets stacked on top of each other? I've love to visit there.
