By the way, Brazilians don't them Brazil nuts. They call them castanhas-do-Pará (literally "nuts from Pará"), except in the State of Acre where they're called castanhas-do-Acre.
Both places produce them in great quantities.Leighton Gagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09788807904434180290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6404036170106001374.post-60032523911535619552011-03-26T08:22:29.317-05:002011-03-26T08:22:29.317-05:00I like stuff like this, Leighton, and store it in ...I like stuff like this, Leighton, and store it in a mind corner labeled "Neat Trivia."

Funny thing, I always thought Brazil was named after a nut.Earl Staggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13349667172813175960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6404036170106001374.post-89318793584094818782011-03-26T06:42:30.149-05:002011-03-26T06:42:30.149-05:00That;s very interesting, Leighton. I can't think of any other country's reigning name that has its roots in a colour, but Romans called GB - Albion, and Scotland Alba = white.
The clever people think it's got something to do with the white cliffs of Dover. In my ignorance, I think it's got something to do with snow.
Will tweet, share and stumble in a minute.Mira Kolar-Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13387166067497301670noreply@blogger.com
